GPS Life Tracker can use background location to keep recording your trail when the app is minimized or closed. This page explains when that happens, why it’s needed for core features, and how to disable it.
The app’s core purpose is to help you understand where you’ve been by recording a continuous trail and computing place/coverage history. If tracking stopped whenever you left the app, the core tracking feature would be incomplete.
